Holiday Weekend

Well, it's been awhile since I last updated.  There has been a lot going on, including exams, holidays, decorating, etc.  I had my first ENGR195H exam last Wednesday.  I drew a blank during one portion of the exam but other than that I think I did okay.  We have started doing engineering method problem solving on the CHIPS website.  I had a pretty chill weekend- campus was empty for the 4 day weekend so it was a little boring.  13 guys from my floor were here.  We made a few more decorations (including gyarados) and hung out, watched movies, went bowling, etc.  Today I did some laundry and started my engineering homework.

Also, Team 42 has begun our robot building project.  I've been keeping a separate log for that so I won't get into huge detail here.  Our robot needs a ton of work but it is a fairly solid design for now.  Lots of stuff coming up, including COM114 test out and camping out to get basketball tickets.

Exciting title

Well, my first engineering project is over.  Basically, those who built the tower over 3 feet tall had successful results.  Ours was barely over 2 feet and held 3 pounds of weight.  Oh well

Finished my first theatre minor project today and came across this awesome set design of Talley's Folly, aww yea.

Ready for the Ball State game and other weekend shenanigans!

Job Fair & stuff.

Industrial Roundtable is tomorrow!  I got my resume checked out today at the CCO (Center for Career Opportunities) and it looks pretty nice, I think.  Applied for a Lockheed Martin position in Texas...hopefully I didn't screw up that application.  Somehow I have to change from dress clothes to painting clothes and talk to any companies I want in just one hour...we'll see how that works.

Fear, ITASCA, and ultimate frisbee meetings all went well.  Pumped for Halloween decorations and the newsletters!  This year is so awesome.

Also, I rekindled my love for Coldplay today...Daniel always said that the obscure songs were the best and it is true.  Daylight ftw.

Organization is awesome

Finally got organized and made Google Calendar my go-to program.  Supposedly it will email me my daily schedule at 5:00 am and I will receive text alerts.  Awesome.  Also, I made my resume for Industrial Roundtable and I think it looks pretty nice (considering I have done barely anything).  Watched 'Real Genius' with the rest of the guys yesterday...hilarious 80s movie.  Cowboys lost today...not going to get into it (FUMBLE WITH 4 SECONDS LEFT!) Rage.

Also, my awesome team #42 finished our engineering project - our straw tower is approx. 28 inches tall, made up of 48 straws and scotch tape, and can probably hold 4-5 pounds before collapsing.  We test it out on Wednesday.  The design is basically 5 octahedrals stacked, it is incredibly sturdy but we'll see.

Time for bed.  Can't wait to get mindblown in calc 3 again...oh prof. Akil.....

I'll post pics of our tower later

The week gets busier...

On Tuesday, September 7th, I went with a few other guys from 4E to see NASA Administrator Charles M. Bolden speak in the Loeb Playhouse.  The joint was absolutely packed and we "unfortunately" had to stand...in the very front row!  He spoke for around an hour, answering questions and enlightening us about NASA's future endeavors.  He skated around talking about the cancellation of the Constellation project (the whole Ares 1 and whatnot to Mars).  Makes me excited to be in the field.  I'd be happy working at NASA or any other aero firm.   He definitely made it clear that NASA will be relying on other firms to pay for space access b/c he wants to help out with the economy.

Today (wednesday) I auditioned in front of the 440 directing class.  I performed the Goodbye People NYT rant monologue, got a decent amount of laughs.  They were impressed that I had a resume, lol.  Hopefully I'll get a role!

Engineering class is piling on the work, but at least my group is pretty cool.  I am currently procrastinating on my calc hw...I'll have to get that done tomorrow.  Today I finished chem and wrote my piece for the next newsletter.  Also made my picks in the fantasy league (which is actually just a pick-'em league but whatev).

Also, apparently there was a tornado in Dallas...hopefully everything is okay though.

Final note - why does every girl already have a boyfriend -__-

Deuces.

Wonderful World of Blogging

Well, I am now entering my third week of college life here at Purdue.  I decided that it would be a good idea to keep track of my shenanigans while I am here, and a blog is a great way to do so.  I am enjoying my classes so far, but I can tell that accelerated Calculus 3 is soon going to become a very tedious course, despite my classmates and professor being awesome people.

I am in the Engineering Honors Learning Community here at Purdue.  Basically, all of the (male) members live on my floor (Earhart 4 East Wing).  There are some pretty cool people on this floor, and I am proud to be the floor senator here.  In short, Nitesh (the other senator) and I represent our floor in Itasca Club, which plans events for Earhart Hall.  Things are about to get rolling.

To do list:
-Write next week's newsletter article
-Write a resume
-Prepare for audition on Wednesday
-Finish Chemistry pre-lab, Engineering activities/project, Calc homework
-Finalize scholarship
-Sketch
-Read Wheel of Time (book 1)
